🌿 What are GOTS & OEKO‑TEX®, and why do they matter?Updated 2 months ago

At Burt’s Bees Baby, we’re committed to ensuring our products are safe for babies and gentle on the planet. That’s why we follow trusted certification standards that prioritize safety, sustainability, and transparency.

🌱 GOTS – Global Organic Textile Standard

GOTS is considered the gold standard for organic textiles around the world. This certification covers every step of the process—from growing the cotton to spinning, dyeing, and sewing—while ensuring:

  • ✅ Use of certified organic fibers

  • 🌎 Environmentally responsible manufacturing

  • 🤝 Fair labor practices

  • 🧵 Traceability throughout the entire supply chain

We apply this certification to our organic cotton products, so you can feel confident about what touches your baby’s skin.

🛡️ OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is one of the most widely recognized labels for textile safety. It ensures that a product has been tested for harmful substances and is safe for direct skin contact. Certification includes:

  • 🔬 Testing for over 1,000 harmful chemicals

  • 👶 Stricter safety requirements for baby items

  • 🧪 Evaluation of all components (fabric, thread, dyes, labels, etc.)

We apply this standard to products made from non-organic cotton, so everything we offer meets high safety standards—no matter the fabric.
